The Theory of Aryan Race and India

The idea that ancient India was invaded and conquered by fair-skinned, war-like Indo-European tribes from Central Asia who subsequently overthrew the indigenous Indus Valley Civilization and introduced horses, Sanskrit and primitive Hinduism to the Indian subcontinent has long been considered a historical fact. In this paper, Indian historian Romila Thapar discusses the colonial origins of the “Aryan Invasion” theory and reviews the archaeological and literary evidence that is now putting it to question.
